FACILITIES

4-Stage Low-Speed Axial Compressor

  • This 4-stage axial compressor is used for various compressor research, including stall inception and stability enhancement of axial compressors.

  • Specification:

    •

1-Stage Low-Speed Axial Turbine

  • This 1-stage axial turbine is used for low speed turbine research. Rotor and stator are replaceable so that various shapes of blade can be tested.

  • Specification:

    • Maximum mass flow rate: 4.90 kg∕s

    • Maximum purge air mass flow rate: 0.18 kg/s

    • Maximum rotating speed: 1,500 rpm

    • Maximum turbine power: 22 kW

Turbopump Inducer Test Facility

  • This facility is for turbopump inducer cavitation research. Turbopump inducer suction performance and cavitation instabilities are measured using steady and unsteady instrumentation.

  • Specification:

Wind Tunnels

  • - This facility is used for research on the combined effects of surface roughness and adverse pressure gradient on turbulent boundary layers. This facility has an adjustable wall to control the pressure gradient of the flow passing the flat plate by changing the angle of the wall.

  • Specification:

    •

HPC System

  • High-Performance Computing (HPC) system for numerical study of turbomachine. The system is located in a co-location and thus provides high computing performance. It supports intra-node parallel computing for complex analysis. RANS simulation for full annulus or URANS simulation for single annulus have been calculated. In addition to the cluster system, there are several CPU/GPU workstations for other calculation, machine learning, and deep learning.

  • Specification:

    • 1,600 CPU cores (AMD EPYC series)

    • 50 TB storage server

    • 100 Gb/s infiniband switch for parallel computing

    • 2 GPU workstations for deep learning (single A100 per machine)

    • ANSYS software license (25 tasks + 1600 HPC)

    • TecPlot software license (single task)

    • Cadence Fidelity software license (academic version)
